Telangana is one of the important States in the Handloom and Textiles Industry. There are numerous handloom viewers and power looms working in the state. After agriculture, handlooms and textiles industry is the biggest employment generating sector in Telangana. Telangana IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao also expressed the need for a national policy for promoting textiles even more as it is generating massive employment. He also said that our textile policy will be as revolutionary as our industrial policy.
The Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd has formed as per A.P re-organisation Act 2014, where the prime objective of the Corporation is endorsement, development and advertising of artistic Handicrafts & Textiles for the welfare of about two lakhs craft person who are working in diverse craft pockets spread all over Telangana.
A textile park was also proposed recently in Warangal, speaking of which IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao said the production motto of this park would be ‘Fibre to Fashion’, and it will even comprise International fashion products. Accommodation will be provided to the workers working inside the park, and skill development training will be offered through an institute that would be set up in association with PSG institute, Coimbatore.
